the coast guard made that decision after crews searched nearly 20,000 miles in the past two days and did not find any sign of that boat. this is search video. our photographer spent the day as spotters looked for any sign of the family or the boat and neither has been found. >> you're not investigating it directly but i will say we're persuing every avenue. and it is a possibility. >> the case has similarities to two hoaxes last year in both cases authorities receive calls that turned out fake. >> police need your help this evening to find the driver who sped away after hitting and killing a woman this morning. the car hit the victim in the southbound lanes on monterey highway here bellevue avenue around 1:00 a.m. witnesses say it was a dark-colored car.
